Hello again! Long time to see!
Sorry about the long lapse in posts. I graduated at the end of May with my B.S. in animal science and have been trying to settle into live without school. It's been challenging. I have a habit of making lots of huge goals for myself and being down on myself for not accomplishing them all. My keyboard for my computer also broke and I've only been able to use the touch screen for about a month, which makes typing out a post frustrating.
Anyways, I'm back and excited to make more posts about the goings-on around my little city cottage. In this post I'd like to share with you guys what I've been working on. There are three main areas that I've been focusing on:
Cooking;
My goals for this is to cook all of our food from scratch ingredients. That a big goal and I have taken little steps towards this. I've gotten back to baking our bread with my sourdough starter and we only drink the kombucha I make. I've been baking other snacks for us as well, like muffins and granola. I want to make mayo, since we have lots of eggs from the girls, but haven't quite got the courage.
Gardening;
This has been going great so far. I started my garden, as you can read from older posts, this last spring. I have beds of peas, salad greens, summer squash, gourds, lots of tomatoes, onions, melon and cucumbers. I'm now looking to begin the transition to a summer garden with planting corn, beans, pumpkins and some fiber flax. I've learned some stuff I plan to change a bit for the autumn season and for next spring, but a lot of our produce we've been eating in straight from our garden =].
Crafts;
The crafts have been a big deal, because this is the area I plan to make money at until I can buy land to start our farm. I have been developing several items to use on an Etsy store I will be opening by Monday. For the last week all of my energy has been directed towards sewing, designing, and researching for the opening of the Etsy store. I was out, just yesterday, taking pictures in the woods for the six dresses I plan to start out offering in my store. I will make a post when I open my store so you can come check it out =].
That's a quick overview of how life's been the last month or so. How are your summer's going? Is your garden looking good? Until next time!
